A group of French tourists stuck up this class note when driving around Galway
IT MUST BE difficult for some tourists coming over here trying to get to grips with us driving on the left hand side of the road.
One very self-aware group over from France this week knew their limitations and helpfully stuck up this note on the back window:
“French Tourists on board, be indulgent… (we do not have the habit of driving on the left)”
Source: @SunnyScattered Twitter
That little French flag flying from the back window as well <3
Spotted by @SunnyScattered on Twitter on the roads around Galway on Friday morning, you can only admire their thoughtfulness for Irish drivers.
Let’s hope everyone was extra sound to them as they got the hang of things.

Chrissy Teigen absolutely burned the Miss Teen USA pageant with one tweet
LAST NIGHT, THE Miss Teen USA pageant took place in Las Vegas – with Miss Texas coming out on top in the end.
On Twitter, the official account revealed the contestants that made the top 5:
People immediately noticed that there was a distinct lack of diversity in the final group
Source: Twitter
And Chrissy Teigen was typically sarcastic about the whole thing
But she missed out some obvious differences
Some people criticised Chrissy’s tweet – but she clarified that it wasn’t personal, just hilarious that they all look the exact same in such a diverse country
It's fiiiiiine. Not their fault. I'm sure they are delightful women. Just funny. I'm not gonna write a think-piece on a damn pageant.
— christine teigen (@chrissyteigen) July 31, 2016
Miss Teen USA was getting it from all sides
Most people had the same observation to make
While others had quality gags lined up
Miss Teen USA hasn’t made a comment on the issue, but people on Twitter are having a whale of a time
These responses to the lack of diversity in the Miss Teen USA competition are KiLLinG me

11 reasons why going on the rollover is a strong Irish tradition
1. The difference between ‘the cure’ and the rollover is key
The cure is imbibed to alleviate a hangover. The rollover’s purpose is to create another one entirely.
2. But one can quickly turn into the other
This spontaneity is what keeps our country going after all these years.
3. Embarking on a rollover is often a feat of willpower
Source: Wordpress
Everything looks grim at 9am (unless you never went to bed. Then you’re grand).
4. It gives purpose to that one friend who is more than willing to go on the cans before it’s even noon
There’s always one. They live to rollover, and we just follow where they go.
5. People on the rollover can be easily identified
They are bleary of eye, scruffy of dress, and unshaven/wearing most of the makeup from last night.
6. But there’s comfort to be found in the fact that everyone looks like trash
Source: Photobucket
There are no expectations, only the expectation that you will have the craic.
7. In fact, it’s encouraged
8. The rollover is observed after sporting events, festivals, and holidays
It doesn’t matter if your team won, lost, or drew. You soldier forward.
9. But Sunday at Electric Picnic (or any given music festival) is its spiritual home
You’ll never see so many people collectively trying to power through. It’s inspiring.
10. A rollover is often accompanied by strong feelings of regret
Source: wikia
The consequences can be brutal. But there’s no need to worry about them until afterwards.
11. But ultimately, it’s a testament to the Irish spirit
We just never give up. (Until it’s time to go into work with a massive head on us. Then we give up.)

What to watch on TV tonight: Sunday
DailyEdge.ie rounds up the TV shows that you’ll be tweeting about tonight and talking about tomorrow.
Robot Wars (BBC Two, 8pm)
People were always going to be excited for the return of the classic series Robot Wars – but now that there are two Irish presenters at the helm it gives it even more of a comforting feel. Dara O Briain and Angela Scanlon went down very well last week, as did the show, and episode two sees an “untested robot built by a cardiologist and his two sons makes a surprising impact in the arena”. ROBBBOOOT WARS.
The Imitation Game (Channel 4, 9pm)
Benedict Cumberbatch was nominated for an Oscar for his performance as legendary British mathematician Alan Turing back in 2014 – and it was well deserved. The film might lack some key historical accuracy, but nearly everyone agrees that it sums up the drama of the code breaking in Bletchley Park that Turing oversaw very well – which proved crucial in the Second World War. A worthwhile watch for a quiet Sunday night in.
The Sunday Game (RTÉ 2, 9.30pm)
There are a couple of quarter-finals of the All-Ireland Senior Football Championship for the lads in studio to pore over tonight. Galway take on Tipp, and Kerry face off against Clare in the first weekend of quarter-final action. Strap yourself in.
Everybody’s talking about: a potential chat show for Jarlath Regan
Yes, the Irish comedian behind the outstanding An Irishman Abroad podcast might be making the jump to the small screen.
Source: Podbean
When asked by the Irish Sunday Mirror today about the possibility of getting his own TV chat show, Jarlath revealed:
I’m not going to lie to you, I have had those discussions and I want to do that. We are in some talks at the moment.
His superlative interview technique on the podcast is clearly getting noticed elsewhere. Make this happen, faceless telly execs.
Or flick over for…
- The Bucket List (RTÉ One, 9.30pm) Jack Nicholson and Morgan Freeman’s characters have just a limited time left on earth – and they plan to make the most of it.
- Dragons’ Den (BBC Two, 9pm) All the best and the worst ideas that the business world has ever seen, with plenty of derisory put-downs.
- The Bourne Ultimatum (TV3, 9pm) This was supposed to be his final hurrah… but you can’t keep a good man down.
- Celebrity Big Brother (TV3, 9pm) How did the housemates get on during their first weekend in the new gaff?
Footage from a Mayo nightclub in 1990 has emerged and it's brilliant
USUALLY YOU HAVE to simply rely on your hazy memories of nightclubs to get an idea of what they were about.
It’s not often that you get documentary evidence.
Well, on Friday Gerry McGuire dug out some footage from February 1990 in Roxys Niteclub in Ballina and the footage tells its own story
It features eight minutes of big jumpers, bigger shirts and absolute tunes
Source: YouTube
As he writes in the YouTube description, Roxys was formerly known as The Hothouse:
In 1990 the Hothouse was rebranded to Roxy’s and NRG was joined by Ray Mac and were simply known as Moyles, Mac & Rice! This video clip is from a night in Roxy’s. Enjoy the memories.
The Cure, Prince and Bryan Adams all feature, of course

The DJ/MC for the evening was giving it socks in some sort of Hawaiian shirt

The jumpers are to be applauded

This application for First Dates Ireland actually made it to its destination
Source: RTÉ
WE’RE JUST THREE weeks away from First Dates Ireland starting to shoot their second series in the now famous restaurant in Dublin.
And applications are still rolling in.
Yesterday, the production company behind the show Coco Television claimed to receive this letter – simply addressed to “Application First Dates. Please Pick Me”
Source: Coco Television
They shared the most audacious of letters to their Facebook page saying:
This landed on our desk this morning. You have to hand it to the Irish Postal service…
Fair play for to An Post for actually getting it there – they didn’t want to stand in the way of this hopeful person’s dream of a date on telly:
They haven’t released any other info on this particular applicant, but given the chancer qualities needed to send such a letter maybe the show would be better off having them on.

10 photos that explain the beauty of the 3-in-1 to the outside world
1. The 3-in-1 is a staple of Irish takeaways
2. In most places abroad, the idea of curry sauce, chips and rice in one container is unheard of
3. It’s so unheard of that when Buzzfeed discovered they existed last year they had to shout it from the rooftops
Source: Buzzfeed
4. It might not be the most aesthetically pleasing meal – but until you’ve had it there can be no criticism
5. It’s absolute carb overload
6. Chips and rice, in theory, should not go together
7. But they absolutely do
Source: Thelemontree
^just add rice <3
8. But the beauty of them is you can replicate them anywhere
9. Just merge the three ingredients into the distinctive pile
10. And explain to everyone that this is the 3-in-1… the greatest takeaway on earth

A cocktail inspired by Black Jack penny sweets exists in Kildare
Source: Fernmae
BLACK JACKS WERE amongst the finest penny sweets you could get – and perhaps shade Fruit Salads as the most common ones you could find.
It’s natural then that the love for Black Jacks would still be strong out there.
So Murphy’s pub in Kildare have made it into a cocktail

A Black Jack daiquiri to be precise.
Intriguing.
They even have Black Jacks planted into the top of them
