The Boys and Girl from County Clare (TV 3, 11pm)

Poldark (BBC 1, 9pm)

The new series begins tonight, and we’re all hoping that Aidan Turner keeps his shirt on because he is more than just a torso. He is also a very attractive head.

This cat was flown from Australia to its owner in Ireland thanks to kind strangers

AN IRISH WOMAN has managed to get her cat flown from Australia to Dublin thanks to the kindness of strangers.

PastedImage-84037 Source: Facebook

Meet George, a ginger cat from Sydney. George’s owner Fiona had to fly back to Ireland earlier in the year due to poor health, leaving him with neighbours in Australia. Her health prevented her from going back to the country, and when her neighbours moved, George had to fend for himself.

He wandered 20km until he was picked up and tracked via a microchip, before he was left in a local vet.

Fiona couldn’t bear the thought of it, so her two friends Cait and Sara created a GoFundMe page in an attempt to get the €1,600 costs together to transport George home on the plane.

PastedImage-4618 Source: Jacqui Ferguson‎

They were hit with a €2,000 medical bill from the vet, just as they were approaching their goal. But that didn’t deter them, and the donations kept rolling in.

The fund was set up in late July, and FINALLY George was returned yesterday after a long flight

The Cork City Samba Band were on hand to keep the afterparty going, giving a brilliant rendition of ‘row row row your boat’ in honour of the silver medalists.

They changed the lyrics just a tad:

Row, row, row, your boat quickly down the stream. Close your eyes, pull like a dog, that’s the Olympic dream!

Conlan spoke to Ryan about his move into professional boxing, before heading off to Coppers with the gang for the night.
