What we know

Irish film – directed by Darren Thornton – with a strong female cast, about a young woman (rising star Séana Kerslake) the titular Mad Mary, who’s fresh out of jail and trying to find a date for her best friend’s wedding.

What the critics say

• “The plot ties things up just a little too neatly at the end for some tastes, but then in a way it feels harsh to deny the central characters a little closure and catharsis. Here’s hoping the film finds a wider audience at home and abroad as it’s a new Irish film that needs to be seen.” - Spoool.ie

Woody Allen’s latest, with some swingy jazz, an ensemble cast of big names, and a 1930s setting. Stars Jesse Eisenberg and Kristen Stewart.
