1. 11 years ago, the very first Electric Picnic was on in Stradbally Hall – and this was the line-up
2. Bez bucket hats were all the rage in 2005
3. And Wayne Coyne was still crowdsurfing on a giant inflatable ball for the craic
4. The blurry evidence of a legendary weekend just about remains
5. Where gas tent paintings were the order of the day
6. And Arcade Fire put in *that* performance that everyone claims they saw
7. It was a simpler time
8. Perhaps a better time
9. Electric Picnic had the glamour, even back then
10. And Kraftwerk gave it the credibility
11. Fat Boy Slim provided the sesh music
12. Mildly suggestive t-shirts were on show
13. And Doves were still a massive thing
14. There wasn’t quite the variety of food stalls back then though
15. So you had to make do with what you could
16. But the more things change, the more they stay the same
11 years on, this weekend will continue in the fine tradition set out way back in 2005 by these Electric Picnic pioneers.
